Repetitive Strain
Repetitive strain is a general term used to describe injury or pain from repeated movements or sustained awkward positions. It is usually an injury that occurs over time and worsens with a particular movement or position. These positions can cause micro trauma to the tissues leading to pain and inflammation.Osteopaths can help you modify the activity or position to decrease any aggravation on the injury. They will also treat the tissues and surrounding joints to help them reduce inflammation and tension. We work to strengthen and restore function.
Arthritis
Arthritis is a general term to describe degeneration of a joint, in particular the joint cartilage. The degeneration of joints can sometimes cause pain, stiffness, loss of mobility and deformity. Arthritis can affect both old and young. Some common types of arthritis are:
- Osteo Arthritis
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Ankylosing Spondylitis
- Gout
Osteopaths can assist in the management of osteoarthritis by helping maintain joint range of motion, releasing adjacent joints and muscles and giving you strategies to modify your daily activities or sport, to take pressure off affected joints.
